Views of Japan

I was talking with a Filipina friend of mine at the store a little while ago today. While we were talking a young Japanese guy came up to her, pushed himself between us and said, “How much for two hours?”

Naturally, she was both shocked and angered and let out a series of insults and abuse in true Filipina fashion.

I stepped in between them and told him to piss off or I’d deck him. To which he replied, “Gaijin don’t belong here, always trying to tell us what to do and how to behave. Go back to America.” Then he turned to my friend and said, “Filipinas are only here for one reason, if you don’t give you are worthless, go back home.” 

I spent the next hour consoling her and we discussed the Japanese attitude towards foreigners. I thought my kids and wife were having a rough time here, I can’t begin to understand the treatment some of my Philo friends have to put up with.
